24. The Story of Airne

Xenzu - level 20
The worst day of her
young life started out bitter cold. She woke up with not a care in the
world as it seemed a normal day like any other. She could smell her
mothers delicious fish patties cooking over the crackling flames of the
fire. She jumped out of her blankets and ran outside to get washed by
the waterside, she knew her mom liked clean hands and faces at her
table. She was just finishing wiping her face on her dressing gown when
she saw them. Murlocs. Hungry looking, slobber dripping down their
pale chests, with the most horrifying crazed look in their eyes. Slowly
she backed away but she knew they saw her and she thought they were
going to eat her. She turned and fled home screaming the whole way. She
could hear the frenzied beat of their greasy lopping feet on the sand
behind her. Reaching home she tripped and fell right on top of her
mother. Gasping for breath she tried to scream "Murlocs chasing me,
going to eat me" but all she got out were pathetic whimpers. She was too
scared to form actual words, she couldn't warn her family about the
danger.
Slowly blinking her eyes open she breathed a sigh of relief as the dream
she was having faded from her mind. It was hard to relive that terrible
fateful day, when she lost almost everything she knew and loved, almost
every night in her dreams. The attack on her village by the ferocious
murlocs wiped out almost everyone including her parents. Her and her
sister were saved by some orcs that had come to her island and after
everything had become calm they took them with them to the new lands of
kalimdor. Her sister Xantili who was 4 years older than her took care of
her. She had gotten a pretty good job
in a nice shop in the upper level of the drag in Orgrimmar so she could
feed her younger sister. For this Xenzu would be eternally grateful to
her sister but now she was 18 and it was time for her to move out and
let her sister live her own life. She packed up her things into her
knapsack slowly knowing how much she was going to miss Xantili. Throwing
on her shoes she dragged her feet all the way to the shop Xantili worked
at to say her farewells. Taking a deep breath she put on a big grin for
she did not want her sister to see how sad she was to go and strolled
inside to tell Xantili it was time for her to walk her own path. She
hugged her sister goodbye, knowing it wasn't forever she could visit at
any time. Her sister said "Wait Xenzu, I have something to give you to
help you in your journey." She handed her a pair of reins and said "Take
Jinx, hes so fond of you anyways he’s still young and has a lot of
adventuring in him its time for him to walk his path with you now." With
a single tear rolling down her soft blue cheek she kissed Xantili and
said "Thank you, I know how much he means to you and this is a great
gift." Lifting her chin up with a brave look on her face she waved once
more and walked out the door to find her path in life.
