Raised by his parents, Cort and Celsea Avenblade, Zainith never could have imagined his destiny going anywhere beyond being the simple hunters/traders that they were. Leaving the pomp and bustle of Silvermoon City after the Second War, his parents moved to a small cottage in the Eversong Woods. Zain's two siblings, Seriet and Lattiea, stayed in Silvermoon City, their duties as soldier and mage requiring them to remain. Zain's parents raised him to be a carefree spirit, never letting the burdens of the world hold him down, and also instilled in him the belief that no matter what, anyone of any race was capable of kindness. Zain believed that wholeheartedly, until the attack by Arthas on Silvermoon City. His parent's rushed to defend the city in whatever way they could, leaving Zain to remain in their cottage. A few days later, with no return of his parents, Zain worried and went to Silvermoon City to investigate. He found the city devastated and occupied by the Scourge. Ducking and hiding, making his way through the ruins, he found the bodies of his parents strewn about in pieces on the ground. Horrified, he ran farther into the city. He found his sister's body impaled on a spike at the bottom of a fountain. He continued to search for his brother. He could not find him or his brother's body. Fleeing, Zain swore to take down the Scourge when he gained enough power to do so.
Later, returning to Silvermoon once it had been re-occupied by his people, Zain joined the Blood Knight order, rising to be a powerful paladin within their ranks. His travels brought him into contact with several other members of the Horde, including a Troll fisher named Teszure. Teszure showed him that worrying all the time got you nowhere except further into worry. This has been a stepping stone for Zain, as he sees his campaign for vengeance as not that, but as a campaign to free the souls held in the Lich King's grasp. His main goal now is to find his brother, who he believes escaped Silvermoon City during the Scourge attack.
